Here is a picture of the information sheet we've been handing out to raise awareness of symptoms and what precautions are recommended. Leptospirosis is treatable if it is caught early; if someone has already had symptoms for several days, it is often fatal. One other complicating factor is that due to the heavy rains, there has also an increase in Dengue Fever incidences (transmitted by mosquitoes), which has very similar symptoms, but is a virus, so it requires different treatment.The other picture is a photo of today's newspaper.
